This four-year MEng Ship Science / Naval Engineering course specialises in the marine engineering systems used on board ships and other marine structures. The introduction of increased environmental restrictions and rising cost of traditional fuels has resulted in variety of new technologies being adopted which require new skills and knowledge. Students can also take the Industrial Placement Year, providing the opportunity for a year-long placement with an engineering-based organisation.

Offshore engineering is a rapidly growing sector covering oil and gas, renewable energy andthe useof ocean space. That's why we have launched the four-year MEng Ship Science / Offshore Engineering course. The sheer diversity of the industry is covered in the course to include structures, energy use and engineering systems. Students can also take the Industrial Placement Year, providing the opportunity for a year-long placement with an engineering-based organisation.

If you are interested in yachts and small craft, our four-year MEng Ship Science / Yacht and Small Craft course provides you with a vast array of career opportunities. The course covers the design and analysis of yachts and small high-performance vessels as well as marine law and management. Students can also take the Industrial Placement Year, providing the opportunity for a year-long placement with an engineering-based organisation.
