The Master of Science (MSc) program in Global China Studies is aninterdisciplinary program designed to equip students with necessary analytic andcommunication skills for further study as well as to make a successful transition forfuture employment. It focuses on four broad subject areas – Economic and SocialHistory, Comparative Humanities, Contemporary China, and Quantitative SocialAnalysis – with an emphasis on providing students global and local perspectives onChina’s past and present. In addition, the program provides a pathway for advancedundergraduates, both from HKUST and other non-local universities, to take on thechallenge of postgraduate study in Global China Studies before their formalundergraduate graduation.

The Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Master of Science (MSc) programs inEnvironmental Science and Management are unique programs that provideprofessional training for graduates to prepare themselves to tackle the rapidlydeveloping environmental issues in Hong Kong and the surrounding region. Thismulti-disciplinary program is unique because in addition to taking advancedenvironmental science and management courses, students will also have theopportunity to take up to three engineering electives to help broaden theirenvironmental capabilities.
