威尔士亚伯大学的目标是最大限度地满足学生的教育需要，实现其特有的职责，同时保持和发展威尔士国内以及其他各国同行业及其他教育机构之间的友好关系，促进威尔士各个大学的教学及研究机构之间的协作。在对该校即将完成第一年学业的一年级学生的一项最新的调查中，98%的学生都表示，如果让他们再次选择的话，他们依旧会选择亚伯大学。
亚伯大学是威尔士联合大学历史最为悠久的一座大学，该大学目前有在校学生近7000人，其中包括1000多名研究生，留学生来自90多个国家和地区。
校内的体育、娱乐设施与学生会共同构成了一个活跃的学生社区，学生会成立了多种业余爱好俱乐部与协会，该大学拥有自己的体育场地，包括一座校内全天候运动场、一座体育馆、室内运动场以及一座游泳池。阿伯斯维思威尔士大学的图书馆设施在英国首屈一指，其组成部分包括与该校毗邻的威尔士国立图书馆、大学图书馆、各系的图书馆以及图书馆学系。语言与学习中心为全体外国留学生提供语言辅导，帮助他们掌握学习技巧。校内计算机房的数量正在不断增加，其中大多数为全天24小时开放，所有的学生均有自己的电子邮件地址。所有的单身留学生均可住宿，宿舍分为自炊式和“即买即吃”餐式两种。
