To provide advanced and post-baccalaureate study for those who aspire toward professional practice in dance. This program is ideally suited for those who seek to deeper knowledge and experience in one or more areas including choreograohy, interdisciplinary performance, pedagogy, technology, arts management and dance science. Students work in a highly concentrated and self-directed professional environment under the mentorship of specialist advisors. While including a number of required courses, the programme of study also allows for the selection of a broad range of courses, offered by the School, the Graduate Education Centre, and other Schools* in the Academy, to meet individual needs and interests. Integration is a key feature of the programme - of the performing arts disciplines, of professional practice with MFA study, of practice and theory, and of students across the Academy's various Schools. This rich and multidimensional environment supports both the development of new career paths and directions, and the generation of original work that contributes to knowledge and practice in the field of dance.

The MFA in Drama offers an opportunity for independent advanced-level study based on professional practice underpinned by the methodology of practice-as-research. Learning in depth in the major disciplines of Directing, Playwriting, Drama and Theatre Education is complemented by taught courses to broaden knowledge in contemporary theatre, drama education, applied theatre, writing for performance, the performing arts, and their cultural contexts. MFA in Drama majors are encouraged to work with each other across the disciplines as well as to explore interdisciplinary collaboration across the Academy's other master's programmes.

This is an innovative programme providing opportunities for graduates of cinema production courses, or similar, and experienced practitioners to broaden, and renew their prior production knowledge and experience. The programme enables and encourages participants to explore the operational and aesthetic breadth of contemporary creative cinema production, including digital technologies. Students explore the collaborative nature of contemporary cinema production and experience how each specialised role enriches the complex art of cinema production, by collectively developing a project, from initial concept to screen. Upon completion of the programme, students will be equipped and prepared to develop and produce or participate on feature cinema projects. Successful graduates will not only receive an MFA qualification but also take away significant production experience, a network of like-minded colleagues, and a production credit in a major crew role, on a feature-length cinema production.

The programme offers educational opportunities to mature, talented, and focused artists who are well beyond the initial throes of exploration and discovery and who seek specialised education in preparation for their professional lives. The programme provides the time, the aesthetic and intellectual resources, the production facilities, and the synergistic creative environment to allow students to broaden, deepen, and synthesize their knowledge, skills, and training with a notable degree of excellence and self-confidence. It also aims to provide rich conceptual and critical content while including a range of discipline specific courses that meet the highest academic and professional standards, and to enable students to critically review, consolidate, and extend a systematic and coherent body of knowledge in the major study area through coursework, research, and practice, and develop artistic identity in the practice of their discipline.

For Western performance and composition majors, Band 6 or above in IELTS. For Chinese performance majors, Band 5.5 or above in IELTS. For applicants who cannot demonstrate achievement in the IELTS test, the Academy English admission tests will be considered an acceptable alternative.

(i) Bachelor of Music degree from the Academy with a finalyear GPA of 3.3 or above in the major study and an overallprogramme GPA of 2.7 or above; or Bachelor degree in music from a recognised institution,normally with honours not lower than second class(upper division), or an average grade not lower than B inundergraduate courses; or another qualification of equivalent standard from the Academyor from another recognised institution,

Performance Major (Western and Chinese Music) The programme equips students for entry into the music profession at a high artistic level. Students gain comprehensive knowledge and experience through participation in a wide range of solo, ensemble, and orchestral performance activities. The flexible curriculum caters for individual interests, enables students to develop an area of performance specialism, and cultivates the cognitive and generic skills to meet the demands of the profession. Performance Major (Conducting for Chinese Orchestras) Students have opportunities to conduct various Chinese ensembles and the orchestra in the Academy, and gain comprehensive knowledge and experience through participation in a wide range of seminars and masterclasses. In addition to the consolidation of repertoire knowledge, the curriculum enables students to develop their critical interpretation and own conducting style. Composition Major The programme provides professional training in composition, analytical skills, and associated research at an advanced level. In addition to the consolidation of technical and conceptual skills fundamental to the creative process, the curriculum provides a practical environment for students to compose in a variety of styles and contexts. Students have opportunities to work with colleagues in the other Schools at the Academy, have their works performed in public concerts, and acquire experience in concert organisation and the promotion of their own compositions.
