The programme is aimed at individuals who aspire to professional advancement in the educational sector, and those who intend to strengthen their foundational knowledge and deepen their study in certain Areas of Focus. It is designed to support students in integrating their past experience with new insights in theory, practice and leadership. The curriculum combines specialist study and a broad-based education in professional reflection, assessment and research methods. It provides flexible learning routes for students from different knowledge backgrounds.

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements: IELTS 6.0; or a TOEFEL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 80 (internet-based test); or Grade C or above in GCSE/ GCE OL English; or Band 6 in the Chinese Mainland's College English Test (CET), a total score of no lower than 430 if the test was taken after June 2005); or Other equivalent qualifications.

Applicants shouldhold a bachelor's degree in an arts discipline or equivalent; andtypically have five years of managerial experience (those with less than 5 years of experience but who are able to present exceptionally good alternative qualifications or substantial current managerial experience may also be consider for admission); and currently working in the cultural, creative or related industries.

The Master of Arts in Community-based Arts Education [MA(CBAE)] is first programme of its kind in Hong Kong and East Asia integrating arts and education practices with community engagement and public development. It supports interdisciplinary projects that combine a range of art forms and culture with experimental pedagogy, public policy, social theory, arts management and education. The MA(CBAE)’s unique focus on individual arts-based research, group work, and experiential learning operates in tandem with the HKIEd’s ongoing community-based activities.

Applicants should normally hold a recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent with music as either major or minor subject. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.

This programme provides a solid subject-based grounding for practitioners in the music profession while at the same time satisfies their need in further developing understanding in thinking, research and practice in music education relevant to their professional roles. In particular, the programme aims to deepen and strengthen students' professional aptitude in their chosen music domain such as composition, performance, or research; cultivate synergy between subject and pedagogical strengths in music; and help students develop and apply skills in creative and critical thinking, research and arts practice to the professional fields of music and music education.

Applicants applying to the Master of Public Policy and Governance should normally hold a recognized Bachelor's degree.

The Master of Public Policy and Governance [MPPG] Programme is designed to help the students to meet with the current worldwide challenges by exploring Asia’s policy problems, their solutions and the mechanisms for effective governance. Delivered by a team of distinguished specialists, the Programme provides in-service professionals, policy practitioners and future public leaders with skills in policy analysis and evaluation, organization analysis and management, strategic communications, project analysis, public governance, and public sector management and development. MPPG brings leading-edge learning of management issues including human resources, financial management and leadership while fostering students’ capabilities and skills for a bright career. It further enhances the students’ employability owing to the knowledge of general management.
